YWCA Shop Small helps local businesses grow and reach their potential

Sponsored by YWCA Oahu

October is Women’s Small Business month, and YWCA Oahu is celebrating their women entrepreneurs with Shop Small Hawaii! This free program is for local small businesses in Hawaii at the Patsy T. Mink center and offers training, courses, business and legal counseling, and invites both male and female entrepreneurs. They’re now offering an e-commerce course which focuses on marketing, branding, and establishing a website for people looking to grow their business.

April Hail, Owner and Designer of Keiki Kaukau, says that YWCA Shop Small is a great place for entrepreneurs to learn and find resources for success. Her company mission is to celebrate Hawaii’s diversity and beauty through children’s products that help nourish cultural understanding and also give back to the community. “Shop Small Hawaii has been wonderful about really gathering a lot of those businesses in one place so that people who want to put their dollars locally, to keep that creativity and that business in the community have a place to go,” says April.

All of the educational workshops, events, and promotions provided by Shop Small Hawaii are free! Colleen McAluney, Director of Patsy T. Mink Center for Business and Leadership, encourages any interested entrepreneurs who have a business to sign up at They also have a directory on the website that highlights over 400 local small businesses to help you shop local!
