Sponsored by University of Hawaii at Mānoa and University of Hawaii Federal Credit Union

High school seniors, now’s your chance to win a year of free tuition at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa! All you have to do is enter the #TakeMeToMānoa social media contest by March 28, 2021, and you could win the big prize courtesy of the University of Hawaii Federal Credit Union.

“This is a great way to engage with our local community and generate a unique storyline through the power of social media,” says Stacey Robinol with UHFCU. “We are thankful for UHFCU’s generous prize contribution of a full year of Hawaii resident tuition.”

“What we need is just for students to visit us at That’s where they’re gonna be submitting their stories,” says Director of Admissions Ryan Yamaguchi. “Tell us why the university, why do you wan to choose the university? What is that drive?”

UH Mānoa offers a wide array of opportunities specific to our island location. UH Mānoa is one of the world’s great research universities and is internationally recognized in earth and environmental sciences – oceanography, astronomy, geology, biology. UH Mānoa has a diverse community with students representing 105 countries and regions.

Although campus is closed temporarily, operations have not stopped. The university shifted to a mix of hybrid classes, both in person and online. Offices and campus services continue to offer support via a virtual front desk, Zoom meetings, and one-on-one virtual appointments. The campus has been leaning on its social media presence to continue engaging with prospective and admitted students, and connect with students through live sessions on both Instagram and Facebook.

UH Mānoa is not only ranked in the top 2 percent among national and international universities by major international rankers, but also one that has one of the lowest average student debt per borrower figures in Hawaii. At UH Mānoa, there are lots of scholarships and financial aid available. This past year, currently enrolled students received CARES funding to help financially due to COVID. And now first-year students do not have to submit their SAT or ACT test scores. SAT/ACT test scores are not required and completely optional.
