Virtual Public Hearings on Reapportionment Start Nov. 30

The State Reapportionment Commission hosts a series of virtual public hearings on a proposed reapportionment plan for developing congressional and legislative districts lines, which will be used for the next 10 years.

The virtual public hearings are scheduled on the following dates:

The commission encouraged people to use the Hawaiʻi redistricting online application to draw and submit their own plans for review.

“Our commission wants to hear and understand as much public input as possible so we can create and adopt the best electoral districting plan for the state,” said Dr. Mark Mugiishi, the chair of the 2022 Reapportionment Commission. “We are hoping for and encouraging good turnout and dialogue at these public hearings.”

The hearings will be held via Zoom video conference. Information about the meeting, including dates, links to join the meeting, and how to submit testimony is posted on the Reapportionment Commission webpage through elections.hawaii.gov.
