For those interested in taking their love of caring for their pets and turning it into a career, VCA Hawaii offers training programs for those passionate about the veterinary field. HI Now host Kainoa Carlson spoke with Hospital Administrator Janay Owen to gain some insight.
The friendly, professional staff at VCA Hawaii is made up of caring pet lovers. The team offers the best quality pet care so your family pet can live a long, healthy life.
When it comes to working in the veterinary field, there are a number of career opportunities, including veterinary assistant, veterinary technician, client service representative, and of course, veterinarians. For those interested in applying, a degree in the veterinary field is an asset, but not required.
“If you have a positive attitude, enjoy working with animals and are client service oriented, you can easily learn many of the skills needed on the job,” Owen says. “We have many positions open at all times.”
While people with experience are always welcome, VCA Hawaii also trains many of its new associates from the ground up, offering a lot of hands-on training.
“Because it is a hospital, it is a medical field. There is a lot to learn, but we will train,” says Owen.
