Two individuals were arrested for their alleged involvement in a machete attack reported early Thursday morning in the Piʻihana Farms area of Wailuku.

Police say Su Lyne Kaihewalu, 26, was located and arrested at around 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, for her alleged involvement in the incident. A second suspect, Erath Kaihewalu, 28, turned himself in at around 12:18 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12.

Both individuals were placed under arrest for second degree attempted murder and were being held in lieu of $500,000 each.

The arrests stem from an alleged machete attack reported in a 911 call at around 1:34 a.m. on Thursday. Police say Anuhea Oda, 18, reported that her 37-year-old live-in boyfriend had been stabbed.

Police say that according to Oda, her boyfriend had been attacked by a male who she identified as Erath Kaihewalu.

Police say Oda informed officers that Kaihewalu allegedly struck her boyfriend with an object before grabbing and striking her boyfriend multiple times with a machete.

The male victim sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the attack and was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
