Three Marketing, Radio Veterans Join WHAV Development Staff
Former WNBP radio station owner Win Damon is one of three mew additions to WHAV’s development team.
WHAV’s development department is expanding with the addition of three marketing veterans with local roots.
Cheryl Soriano of Bradford.
Marketing and radio veterans Win Damon, Cheryl Soriano and Paul Ryan are responsible for raising donations from corporate sponsors and local businesses for nonprofit radio station, 97.9 WHAV FM, said WHAV President and General Manager Tim Coco. The three serve as media representatives across the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire.
This is Soriano’s first foray into radio development. The Bradford resident says the station’s original live programming and coverage of City Council and School Committee meetings caught her attention as a listener and inspired her to come forward. She has previously been involved in sales for the computer industry.
Newburyport-based Damon is a 30-year former owner of WNBP, Newburyport. Prior to putting down roots in the Valley, Damon worked on-air and in sales in Manchester and Concord, N.H., Lowell and Rochester, N.Y. He was WNBP’s longtime morning personality and also voices messages over WHAV.
“I enjoy WHAV because of its strong commitment to local news and information, and playing music that people enjoy,” Damon, who joined WHAV in April, says.
Paul Ryan, Voice of the Hillies, is former general manager of the Haverhill Gazette.
Damon and Soriano say it is WHAV’s original programming and live coverage of Haverhill happenings like comprehensive local news reporting, Community Spotlight and other Merrimack Valley programming make the station stand out.
When he’s not on calling on local businesses, Ryan pulls double duty at WHAV, serving as the station’s “Voice of the Hillies” during all home and away varsity football games. A media veteran, Ryan comes to WHAV following a 14-year stint in sales and as the general manager of the Haverhill Gazette.
