NYSPHSAA announces schedule changes

MIDDLETOWN — NYSPHSAA announced revisions to its 2018 boys soccer state tournament semifinals and finals schedule.

Heavy rain in the Middletown area has rendered the grass soccer fields at Middletown High School and Twin Towers Middle School unplayable this weekend.

The State semifinals will now be played at three separate locations: Middletown High School, Marlboro High School and Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh on Saturday Nov 10. The State Championship games will all be played on the turf field at Middletown High School.

The Chazy boys soccer team will play Saturday at Middletown High School on the turf field with a 6 p.m. start.

PSU women’s soccer team receives awards

CORTLAND — Five student-athletes from Plattsburgh State were named to one of the three 2018 All-State SUNYAC women’s soccer teams, including the 2018 SUNYAC Rookie of the Year Allison Seidman, as announced Thursday by the conference office.

Seidman was named to the All-SUNYAC First Team, Katie Matott (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton), Kirsten Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown), Sarah Bonner and Taylor Adams were selected to the All-SUNYAC Second Team.

This marks the first-ever All-SUNYAC laurel for all five student-athletes.

PSU’s Matott receives All-District award

PLATTSBURGH — Katie Matott (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) of Plattsburgh State has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Matott earned selection to the NCAA Division III’s District III First Team.

She advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, and the Google Cloud Academic All-America teams will be announced on Dec. 4. Matott becomes the seventh Cardinal in program history to merit Academic All-District distinction.
