This weekend’s games in the U.S. Virgin Islands’ high school tackle football league have been postponed, league officials said Thursday night.
According to Scott Cofiell, territorial director of sports and athletics for the Virgin Islands Education Department, the games scheduled for tonight and Saturday were postponed because of poor field conditions brought on by Thursday’s massive rainstorm.
St. Thomas’ Ivanna Eudora Kean High (2-1-0) was scheduled to host St. Croix’s Educational Complex High (0-2-1) at Lionel Roberts Stadium on St. Thomas.
Then, on Saturday afternoon, St. Thomas’ Charlotte Amalie High — the defending territorial champion — was to have played St. Croix’s Central High (0-2-1) at the Alfredo Andrews Elementary School field on St. Croix.
Cofiell said in a text message that no make up date has been set for the two games yet.
Next week, Central High will play Ivanna Eudora Kean High on Friday, Nov. 16, at Lionel Roberts Stadium, and Charlotte Amalie High will travel to St. Croix to play Educational Complex High at Alfredo Andrews Elementary School on Saturday, Nov. 17.
