Queen’s Health System helps keep provides clinical support at Merrie Monarch
Sponsored by the Queen’s Health System
Dr. Julius Pham at Queen’s was in charge of coordinating with Merrie Monarch and setting up the COVID protocols to keep the halau, kumu and spectators safe. Prior to the festival, the Queen’s team made sure that as many people were vaccinated as possible. They then coordinated their lodging and quarantine process.
“We have clinical staff on the ground to address any issues that might come up,” said Dr. Akaka.
When Queen’s was approached to help the Merrie Monarch festival, it jumped at the opportunity. It values the festival as a beacon of Hawaiian culture and history, and is thrilled that it gets to return this year.
“After this particular year, we want to show that Hawaiians are resilient,” Dr. Akaka said.
