Virginia Stephenson is 102 years old and has worked in many different industries throughout her career. She was never a heavy drinker and always ate conservatively. Virginia believes the key to a long, happy, and healthy lifestyle is to do everything in moderation.
Margaret Kunimura was school secretary. Growing up in Hanalei, she became familiar with everyone living in the town, building relationships as she got older. For her, keeping a strong, healthy bond with family and friends is very important in life. “I think friends are very important,” says Margaret.
“To me, it went by so fast,” says Georgia Yuen. Her secret is to live a life of doing, and to keep strong ties with your family. “The family is the one that keeps you going. Without the family, you’re gone,” she says.
Peter Yu turns 101 years old in December and spent his life as an accountant. He graduated from Hilo High School in 1939 and has advice for the younger generation. “So just remember, from there on (after high school), the world begins,” he says.
