1. Input Requirements

There are no established requirements for accession. Usually you need 3 to 5 years of experience as a marketing manager, sales manager or public relations officer.

You may need a diploma in marketing or business or a professional marketing qualification.

Another option is to start working as a junior marketing manager or marketing student and work your way up.

2. Required skills

3. What will you do?

You can work in sales and marketing agencies, or in the marketing departments of organizations such as financial services or manufacturing.

You can also work in charitable organizations to raise funds, in heritage organizations or in the education sector.

Your daily tasks may include:

research and analysis of market trends and target markets
creating marketing and social networking strategies
planning and managing the launch of new products and services
adjustment of budgets, goals and terms
working with own or external agencies to create attractive campaigns that increase business
Organization and participation in events to meet new and existing customers
Budget management and reporting on the effectiveness of campaigns
managing a team of marketing managers

4. Salary

Starter: from 25 000 to 30 000 pounds sterling

Experienced: from 30 000 to 45 000 pounds sterling

Very experienced: £ 55,000 or more

5. Working hours, patterns and the environment

You will usually work from 9:00 to 17:00 from Monday to Friday.

You can also spend several evenings or on weekends at events such as product launches, fairs or open days.

Usually you work in the office and, perhaps, will travel to meet customers and attend events.

6. Career path and progression

With experience, you can become a regional manager or director of marketing. You can also become a brand or an account director.
