Pitching with area pro baseball players Patrick Ruotolo (San Francisco Giants), Ryan McAuliffe (N.Y. Mets) and Steve Leavitt (Ruidse Osos Pecos of Independent League) will be offered on Sat., Dec. 15 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Mercedes Baseball Academy, 46-48 Stafford Street, Methuen. The NSBUA new umpire training sessions will take place at Essex Tech High School from 6-8 p.m. beginning on Monday, January 7. The school is located at 565 Maple St. in Danvers (Hathorne). Cost for the class is $100 which includes materials, first-years NSBUA dues and the NSBUA certification exam. No previous umpiring experience is required.
