La Birria offers Food-A-Go-Go Restaurant Week special through April 19, 2021
Hawaii Agricultural Foundation has been hosting its first Food-A-Go-Go Restaurant Week, and it’s still going through April 12! Many restaurant are even extending special offers through April 19 or through the end of the month. Whether dining in or ordering take out, Restaurant Week is a great way to support Hawaii’s local restaurant industry.
Over 120 participating restaurants are taking part in Restaurant Week, and La Birria is one of the eateries extending its special through April 19 at its Kakaako location. HI Now hosts Kanoe Gibson and Kainoa Carlson got a closer look at the $17 La Birria Sampler.
La Birria is not your mamas taco truck. The eatery kicks things up a notch with its signature Hell Fire Tacos and its Birria Saimin! Marinated for 24 hours, then cooked low and slow for an additional 12 hours, you get perfect moist and flavorful Birria that you will crave over and over again! Chef and owner Arturo Silva has been featured in Honolulu’s Food & Wine Festival and was the recipient of Best Mexican Cuisine for four consecutive years while serving as executive chef at Buho Cantina.
Food-A-Go-Go is a free community resource with the latest information on restaurants that are open for takeout, delivery or curbside pickup during the COVID-19 pandemic. At foodagogo.org, in addition to restaurant information, you can also find local produce and food products.
“This is a way for us to support our local restaurants by encouraging the community to order the Food-A-Go-Go Week special for dine-in or takeout,” says Denise Yamaguchi, executive director of the Hawaii Agricultural Foundation. “We’re launching this together with an online auction called Bid It To Win It For Ag Education to raise funds for our K-12 agricultural education programs.”
All of the participating restaurants in Food-A-Go-Go Restaurant Week and other industry partners have donated exclusive items to the online auction, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to K-12 programs at public schools statewide. These focus on exposing students to farming and agriculture.
