KTA and AlohaMondays help to feed Merrie Monarch bubble

I think it’s giving everyone the chance to feel like we’re getting back,” said Geana Miura, the coordinator at AlohaMondays. “It’s such a special event for us, local businesses, but mostly, I think, for the spirit of Hilo.”
AlohaMondays is serving dinner to the Hawaii News Now crew in Hilo so that every crew member can stay in their bubble and quarantine until the event. KTA is serving food to the halau that have come to Hilo from across the islands.
“Last year, it was kind of a sad situation–– no Merrie Monarch, it felt like something was lost,” said Derek Kurisu, executive vice president of KTA. “For all the halau and Auntie Luana to make it happen this year, it wasn’t an easy task, and I thank every single person for making it happen.”
