Keala Foundation to host their Ultimate Hawaiian Trail Run September 18
Sponsored by Keala Foundation
The Keala Foundation creates environments in the community that serves kids at risk. With gyms in Poipu, Kekaha, and Anahola, participants get proper training in CrossFit and life coaching at no cost. “We’ll take the kids through the workout, and then at the end of the workout, we’re going to take them and start to talk to them,” says Aaron Hoff, founder of the Keala Foundation. They discuss topics like processing anger and how to control their trauma at a young age.
Hoff says he wants to protect the children from the increased drug addiction and abuse on the island of Kauai. He’s seen significant results in the keiki that participate in the Keala Foundation, flipping their lives around 180 degrees and putting them on the right path. “We are going through one of the narliest drug epidemics right now that is eradicating the local community,” Hoff says.
Born and raised on Kauai, Hoff became involved in the drug scene and experienced it firsthand. He sobered up at a young age, which opened his eyes to the problem the community was facing. Hoff says he’s giving the younger generation the tools needed to help them survive the surge of drug usage. He hopes to have a step-by-step curriculum on opening the program in any community by the end of the year.
On September 18, 2021, the Keala Foundation will be hosting their Ultimate Hawaiian Trail Run at the Omao Track on Kauai, with check in starting at 7 am, and the event starting at 8 am. You also have the option to participate virtually. This event is important to the Keala Foundation because it helps to raise money and keep their doors open.
