Kamaboko Dip: Whip up this local favorite at home on game day

What’s a football watch party at home without snacks? That’s why HI Now host Kainoa Carlson is in the kitchen with Stephanie Thomas from Ace Hardware – Aloha Dealers Group. She’s sharing how to whip up a batch of ono kamaboko dip, made with just a few simple ingredients. Eat it with veggies or crackers, it’s a local favorite that won’t disappoint!
“This is my best friend’s recipe, and she usually makes it, but this year I have to make it myself,” Thomas says. “So you’ll see how easy it is to put together!”
Thomas has been a part of the hardware business for over 20 years as she started at a very young age. She has held many positions with Ace Hardware, including store manager, and is a natural in her latest role as a hardware category manager for HouseMart. Recipe: Kamaboko Dip
1 block of kamaboko (pink and white)– finely chopped
1 medium sweet onion – finely chopped
1 heaping cup of mayonnaise
1 16oz container of sour cream
1/4 cup of green onions – chopped (set some aside for garnish)
1) Combine the kamaboko, onions and green onions into a mixing bowl.
2) Add in the mayonnaise and stir. Add in the sour cream and stir until all the ingredients are blended together.
3) Scoop into a serving dish and garnish the top with a pinch of green onions.
4) Best served after chilling in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours. Serve with crackers, chips, lavosh or celery sticks.
