“We celebrate Hawaii’s people and place with storytelling and our original prints on our clothing,” said owner Kehau Nielsen.
Nielsen began upcycling her old hula costumes into clutches and other small accessories in 2013. Her work quickly gained traction, and she publicly showed her brand for the first time at the annual Hawaii Fashion Showcase. She sold out, and from there she began the journey of opening a brick-and-mortar store while expanding her brand.
Nielsen showcases some of her new prints, inspired by a combination of vintage clothing and Hawaiian culture.
Kahulale’a is located on the fourth floor of Ala Moana Center in Ho’okipa Terrace.
