The Hui No Ke Ola Pono Hawaiian Health Care Center at the J. Walter Cameron Center in Wailuku started offering COVID-19 vaccines to eligible residents this week.

Staff at the center began administration of first doses of the Moderna vaccine on Thursday.

Staff at the facility say the vaccines at this time are for those 70 years of age and older as well as 1b essential workers defined by the state and CDC priority grouping.

Those who qualify and are interested in getting vaccinated through the Hui should register online, pickup an application on site or call to schedule an appointment at 244-4647.

Hui No Ke Ola Pono is a private, not for profit community-based health enhancement, disease prevention and health care center. The Hui provides programs on nutrition, health management and health care referrals for the community of Maui with attention to Hawaiian values.

Hui No Ke Ola Pono is one of five Native Hawaiian Health Care Systems created under the Native Hawaiian Health Care Act of 1988 and reauthorized under the Native Hawaiian Health Care Improvement Act of 1992.
