Because the eviction moratorium was lifted in October, Hawaii’s families are struggling keep their homes.
For the past 15 years, Family Promise of Hawaii has been the leading nonprofit on Oahu, providing a safety net for vulnerable children and their families. Their mission is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence by mobilizing existing community resources and support.
The eviction moratorium was lifted in October, and Family Promise Hawaii has seen an increase in calls related to home evictions. “We are getting a high call volume of families needing support because they don’t know their rights, are being bullied by landlords, or leave without getting a formal eviction,” says Lama Chang of Family Promise Hawaii.
Family Promise has provided service to the houseless population throughout Oahu for 15 years. They need your help to place 15 families into a home by December 25th! Please visit familypromisehawaii.org to make a monetary donation or volunteer!
