‘Ulu, or breadfruit, is a sustainable indigenous Hawaiian staple that can be incorporated into almost any meal! It is incredibly versatile and can replace starches such as potatoes and rice. Because of its deep cultural roots, amazing nutritional benefits, and the fact it’s one of the only staples on earth to grow on a tree, ‘ulu is a vital part of Hawaii’s food future.
Throughout the month of February, Hawai’i ‘Ulu Co-operative will be giving away two free cups of ʻulu chocolate mousse with every Elima Bulk Box purchase. This provides five pounds of locally grown Hawaii staple crops!
You can also find the mousse at various grocery stores throughout the state. On Oahu specifically, you can find it at select Down to Earth locations and Kokua market. More stores are coming online in March, so keep checking the product locator at eatbreadfruit.com to find a store near you that carries it.
