The Pacific Whale Foundation invites visual storytellers of all backgrounds who are passionate about oceans and marine wildlife to submit their work for consideration in the foundation’s annual World Whale Film Festival, a cornerstone of the annual Maui Whale Festival.

Occurring virtually in February 2021, the World Whale Film Festival (WWFF) continues the nonprofit organization’s proven commitment to presenting films that reflect an ethical and accurate representation of various cultures, ecosystems and wildlife.

In early 2020, WWFF attracted a sold-out crowd that was treated to 10 feature films with powerful stories about marine conservation. The 2021 virtual festival promises equally compelling offerings designed to inspire current and future environmental stewards.

Firmly committed to this goal, WWFF will consider entries based on originality, messaging, overall impact, artistic merit and technical excellence. Filmmakers who submit their work must guarantee a high level of respect for the welfare of all marine wildlife and the ocean environment in the creation of their film, and ensure that the location(s) of the shoot remained undisturbed during and after production. In addition, filmmakers must abide by all federal, state and regional regulations throughout the filming process.

If selected, participating filmmakers will have an opportunity to discuss their film via a virtual forum. Visit https://filmfreeway.com/WorldWhale
FilmFestival for more information about the festival and how to submit films for consideration. The deadline for submissions is January. 15, 2021. All entries must include a $10 entry fee and a statement describing the film and why it’s appropriate for WWFF.
