Explore Ward Village and find weekend fun for the whole ohana
Sponsored by Ward Village
Over the past several years, Ward Village has continued to evolve as more local businesses and residents have moved into the neighborhood. HI Now host Kainoa Carlson met up with Emi Hart to learn more about the weekend activities going on in the community that are fun for the whole ohana.
During the weekends, Ward Village is home to several ongoing community events like the Kakaako Farmers Market, which is every Saturday, as well as open-air yoga classes. There have also been special activities and like a kite-flying exhibition, seasonal photo ops and even a butterfly garden.
From South Shore Market to West of Ward is about half a mile, and part of the plan for this community is to continue enhancing walkability and bikability. The month of May also happens to be National Bike Month. There are currently six Biki stations and a number of bike racks throughout Ward Village, as well as a designated bike lane along the Auahi Street Promenade.
And did you know there’s even a South Shore Surf Cam hosted on Ward Village’s website? You can see a livestream of the shoreline before paddling out! Bowls or Kewalos.
During the month of May, there will be a new flower cart at South Shore Market where you can grab bouquets and lei, a movie in the park, and a mom-made pop-up market! For more information about ongoing and upcoming events, visit wardvillage.com/explore.
