Celebrity Chef Roy Yamaguchi surprises HI Now hosts on 3-Year Anniversary
HI Now celebrated its three-year anniversary on April 16, 2021. To keep the celebration going, HI Now hosts Kanoe Gibson and Kainoa Carlson invited a very special guest back to the kitchen to celebrate: Celebrity Chef Roy Yamaguchi! He christened the show’s kitchen set back in January 2019, so it’s only fitting that he returned for the third anniversary.
On the menu today? Shutome and Scallops with Shrimp along with some champagne, of course! It’s not a party until someone pops open a bottle. Chef Roy also surprised the hosts with a very special Ube Chantilly cake made by the pastry chef at his restaurants.
Chef Roy is an American celebrity chef and founder of a collection of restaurants that includes: Eating House 1849,
Humble Market Kitchin, GOEN Dining + Bar, and Roy’s Worldwide. He is revered for his exceptional culinary skills and is
known as the innovator of Internationally Influenced, Hawaii Inspired cuisine — an eclectic blend of California-French-Japanese cooking traditions created with fresh ingredients from the Islands.
He is the first from Hawaii to have been honored with the prestigious James Beard “Best Pacific Northwest Chef” Award in 1993 and has earned numerous honors including California Chef of the Year (California Restaurant Writers Association) Gault-Millau Top 40 (Forbes FYI), Top 50 Cuisines in America (Conde Nast Traveler), Fine Dining Hall of Fame (Nation’s Restaurant News) and the John Heckathorn Dining Excellence Award (Honolulu Magazine).
