Catching up with newly crowned Miss Hawaii 2021 Courtney Choy
With so many accomplishments to celebrate, HI Now host Kanoe Gibson sat down with this year’s new Miss Hawaii to catch up.
“I was so happy just to make it to the top 5. When it was down to the final pair of candidates, I knew I had done everything I needed to do,” she said. “I cried in between the social impact initiative and talent phases because I felt so beautiful inside and out and knew that whatever happened, I was happy with the results.”
Choy was born and raised in Ewa Beach, Hawaii and is the daughter of Anthony and Donna Choy. She is an honors graduate of Punahou School and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Hawaii at Manoa Shidler College of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, Management, and International Business. In May 2021, she graduated with her Juris Doctor from the William S. Richardson School of Law. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach, volunteering, and spending her time with her two rescue dogs.
“Going into this next year, I will do my best to be in the community and continue meeting people as safely as possible,” Choy adds. “I waited over a year and a half to compete in Miss Hawaii, and I want to bring that perseverance to this next year and just bring happiness, positivity, and aloha to this amazing state.”
