Asia Pacific International School positively impacts the Hau‘ula community

Sponsored by Asia Pacific International School

Asia Pacific International School (APIS) is a private K-12 school located in the community of Hau’ula on Oahu’s North Shore. Being the only K-12 private school on the North Shore, since the school’s founding in 2015, it has been able to have a positive impact on the community.

Local families from all over the North Shore have chosen the school for their keiki due to its nurturing Christian environment and hands-on, authentic learning experiences that the teachers provide for students. Also, students interact with international boarding students who come from countries around the world, offering opportunities for lifelong international friendships, that transcend the small Hau’ula community.

As students at APIS partake in hands-on learning, this naturally leads to a variety of service opportunities. Students have harvested and distributed taro grown on campus, cleaned up community beaches, raised funds for non-profits, and sang at assisted living facilities. And this year on the day before Thanksgiving, APIS Hawaii students will be clearing invasive species from rivers that had devastating floods in Hau’ula in March 2021 and preparing a site for the future Hau’ula Community Resilience Hub.

Now in its seventh school year, APIS has had a positive impact on the local community and looks forward to continuing to graduate leaders who be global citizens, prepared to make a positive impact in the community.
