Aloha United Way seeking school supply donations for students in need
Sponsored by Aloha United Way
The Society of Young Leaders is a remarkable group whose mission is to give, serve, learn, and make a positive impact on the most pressing issues facing our community. The group selected education as its area of focus this year.
“Society of Young Leaders is a really fun group of volunteers,” says Brett Aka, Realtor at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate. “What we like to do is we strive to get the next generation to make Hawaii a better place.”
“It’s a group that loves to work hard and play hard,” says Greg Bushnell, Business Development Manager at Aloha United Way. “There out in the community volunteering on Saturday mornings, promoting initiatives for community benefit, while also professionally networking and having fun while doing it.”
The pandemic had a heavy impact on the keiki, and Aloha United Way and their partners are helping families provide school supplies for their children. They will be collecting donations until the end of September, then the DOE will pick up the supplies and distribute it amongst schools that are under resourced. If you want to donate, physical drop off points include City Mill and any Cutter dealership. Aloha United Way also has an Amazon Wishlist that you can use to donate electronically at auw.org/schoolsupplies.
